Almost Summer Time!

Looks like I have been slacking a bit on the blog posts!  It's nearly June and what have we been up to in the last couple of months?  Well, with the beautiful Spring and sometimes Summer-like weather that has finally started to come around, Andee and I have been enjoying the great outdoors by going on walks, sitting on our balcony, and anticipating the opening of the public pools in the next couple of weeks.  Andee finished up with a lot of his demanding rotations for the year, and will finish up as an 'Intern' First-Year Resident at the end of June!  It is hard to believe that we have lived in Iowa for almost a full year!  Let's backtrack a little to our Iowa adventures in April and May!

I was happy this year to be a part of our Easter Services at Prairie Lakes Church.  A lot of creative minds came together to create a beautiful video with the band underscoring and singing underneath.  It was a great experience that depicted the message of the Gospel - that our sin caused the agony of death, but that our Savior Jesus conquered death on the cross to give us abundant and hopeful lives.  And that this is truth regardless of our circumstances or feelings - He will always love us and forgive us when we surrender our lives to Him.  It was amazing to be a part of something like that!

Being a part of our Worship Team is such a privilege for me, and I am so blessed and honored to be able to use what God has gifted me with to bless Him and to bless others.  It's such a win-win when we follow God's will for us!

These past couple of months have also allowed for some opportunities to better connect with the wonderful people in our Small Group!  Even with the unpredictable work schedules of many, we have still managed to get together regularly to discuss God's truths, pray for each other, and tell funny life stories.  And with the warm weather rolling in we have had more opportunities to get together with our both our Small Group friends, and with some other wonderful people and just relax and hang out.  From bonfires to grill-outs, the Spring and Summer weather is just so much more fun!  It's difficult to live away from family and friends back home in Canada, and I hope you all know how much your friendships mean to us as we navigate our lives in Iowa.

The next month or so is likely to fly right by, as Andee and I have a weekend getaway to Minneapolis, Minnesota coming up this weekend, and a two-week trip back to Canada to see all the people we love so much during the best time of the year - cottage season!  We love and miss you my fellow Canadians, and will see you all soon!
